We Arose

We Arose is dedicated to building community and promoting wellness through fresh, healthy local foods. At its core are the We Arose Gardens, a collection of urban farm plots operating in Waterloo's North End neighborhoods, working in coordination with a network of other area growers and producers to offer high-quality fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products to consumers, businesses and organizations.

We Arose grew out of a desire to enhance community wellness - both the physical health of individuals and the strength of their connections. To this end, We Arose works to address three primary goals:
-affordable access to fresh produce for all;
-nutritional education and promotion of healthy lifestyles;
-support of local farmers through mentoring and development of new and enhanced market opportunities.

Significantly, We Arose manages the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market (WUFM), presenting weekly market events each Saturday, May through October, at the RiverLoop Expo Plaza in Waterloo's downtown city center. Operating from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, the market features local agricultural produce, flowers and plant stock, baked goods, prepared foods, original art and craft items, and other products from local small businesses. WUFM participates in a variety of food access initiatives including SNAP/EBT, WIC & Senior FMNP, Veggie Vouchers, Double-Up Food Bucks and Produce Rx.
