Field to Family: 2023-2024 Value-Added Grant Recipient

FIELD TO FAMILY

Field to Family works to create a more local, healthy and sustainable food system in Iowa. Field to Family operates a food hub in eastern Iowa that aggregates, stores distributes and promotes local fresh food. It also has a Farm to School Program and online resource portal.  Field to Family has experienced exponential growth since it was established in 2020. In 2023, Field to Family worked with 41 Iowa farmers and four food hubs to provide local foods to more than 30 institutions and 400 individuals through its online farmers market.

Field to Family’s Choose Iowa grant project will expand the food hub’s operations and distribution of local, fresh food. Field to Family will purchase a refrigerated box truck to increase efficiency in its distribution and delivery processes. This will also expand the organization’s market, increase its customer base, and allow Field to Family to meet the high and growing demand for local foods in schools and institutions.

Field to Family expects to increase sales, consumers, collaborating producers, partnering schools and institutions. This project aligns with the organization’s efforts to support Iowa producers and farmers, and to provide healthy and nutritious Iowa products to its consumers.
