Farm Story Meats is a meat company that delivers and ships its locally raised meat directly to the consumer that was started by Ray Schmidt in 2019 to help save his family hog farm. The business has grown to now include beef, chicken, turkey and lamb, which comes from five different Iowa family farms.
Farm Story Meats’ Choose Iowa grant project will increase cold storage capacity by purchasing and installing a large walk-in freezer. The new equipment will help solve the business’s current storage challenges, increase the business’s distribution capacity, and allow Farm Story Meats to expand its market.
Farm Story Meats expects to increase sales, revenue, and customers by delivering and shipping to more consumers in Iowa and around the world. Farm Story Meat’ core values are family, quality and pride in the community. This project will support its continued efforts to produce high quality Iowa-raised meat and serve its community.
