CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and while the particulars can vary by farm, the most basic idea is that you pay a farmer in advance for a fruit and veggie or flower subscription for a portion or the entirety of the growing season. Each week's offering will vary based upon seasonality and growing conditions, but whatever you receive, you will know it is fresh and grown by an Iowa farmer just for you.
Below, we've wrapped up some of our amazing members offering CSAs for this upcoming season. We will update this list as we discover more options from our members!
Blue Gate Farms: Chariton, Iowa
The BGF Bounty Box is your ticket to fresh produce all season long! Bounty Box membership provides 20 weeks from June to mid-October of high quality, fresh, chemical-free produce. They offer pick up locations in Des Moines, Knoxville, and at their farm. Add-on options allow you to add extra goodies like jam or herbs to your order. If you are looking for flowers, they also offer a limited number of Blooms subscriptions for beautiful bouquets just for you!
Buffalo Ridge Orchard: Central City, Iowa
These Collaboration Shares are sure to cover all of your needs. Besides just delicious apples in the fall, you can expect a range of veggies, pantry staples, herbs and more from June to October. Not sure you have the time this summer? Consider opting into their Fall Collaboration Share to ensure quality ingredients for all of your cozy fall baking!
Camp Creek Organic Produce: Kalona, Iowa
Sign up for a spring, summer, or fall share and each week you’ll receive a box of vegetables grown at Camp Creek Organic Produce and other local farms. This CSA weekly farm subscription would be perfect for you. They offer add ons and different pick-up locations to make it perfect for you!
Cedar Shake Farm: Winterset, Iowa
Looking for flowers and produce? Look not further than Cedar Shake Farm's two different CSA options. Shares come in 9-week or 18-week increments and smaller quantities are available for their flower CSA. Your box will be full of a variety of delicious, seasonal produce.
Dropseed Farm, Dubuque, Iowa
Dropseed Farm is a small-scale organic farm offering a CSA subscription for 17 weeks of vegetable deliveries -- the final box of the season is free. You are guaranteed to receive a range of seasonally appropriate vegetables that are fresh and delicious.
Phelps Farm: Guttenberg, Iowa
Beginning in February you can be a part of Phelps Farm's Tulip Club. Enjoy one freshly harvested tulip bouquet per week for 8 weeks. If fresh produce is what you are looking for, you can sign up for their spring or summer CSA. The Spring CSA will last 4 weeks and the Summer CSA will last 9 or 18 weeks depending on the option you sign up for.
Pleasant Grove Homestead: Montezuma, Iowa
Pleasant Grove Homestead offers its dedicated customers the option of joining its PGH Elite program to ensure access to fresh produce and eggs. Their share program runs for 22 weeks to ensure you receive the locally grown options you crave all season long. They also offer multiple, convenient pick up locations to ensure you always have access to their program.
Red Granite Farm: Boone, Iowa
Red Granite Farm offers their Abundance Share Program perfect for grabbing some extra produce goodness this summer. The Abundance Share Program offers produce pick-up in July, August, September and October, at the farm. Pay once in the spring, and enjoy the abundance this summer.
Rhubarb Botanicals: Mount Vernon, Iowa
Rhubarb Botanicals offers a Flower CSA perfect for a pop of color in your life. When you sign up for their Flower CSA, you'll receive a freshly cut and arranged bouquet featuring the best of their farm-grown flowers each week for the duration of the share. They offer pick ups in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids if you can't make it to their farm in Mount Vernon every week.
Sonshine Farms: Hubbard, Iowa
Sonshine Farms offers a Basket Program, a subscription-based service that gives you the flexibility to choose size and frequency of your basket. Sign up for a half-season or whole-season subscription as well as a Small, Medium, Large or X-Large basket to ensure you get the perfect option for you.
Twisted River Farm: Mitchell, Iowa
Their Veggie Box CSA is designed to provide you with a bountiful selection of fresh, organic produce throughout the growing season. Their Main Season CSA season runs June through September. if you’re a weekly subscriber, you’ll get a box for 16 weeks. if you choose bi-weekly, you’ll get 8 boxes every other week. Pickup happens at six different drop sites -- find one perfect for your schedule and availability.
